Medical moments with your horse

Not every horse day is a perfect horse day, today Mara and I were inside once again due to high winds and cool gray weather. We enjoyed grooming, ground work and lunging in the arena. While my horse pal Bridget was treating her young mare for scratches, a form of dermatitis that afflicts the pasterns and fetlocks of horses usually caused by mud or consistent wet conditions. This demonstrates how important grooming and trying to keep your horse mud free is, however that’s not always easy or possible. This horse is a pasture horse who is now in on stall rest to treat and heal from scratches, we hope to see her back out very soon!
