Summer Charms

Sharing some summer beauty from this mornings ride with Mara B. We had perfect conditions for a ride together. A satisfying conclusion to the month of July. 🌼🌿✌️

Horse has Hives

Mara has reacted to insect bites and she has hives, they look like welts. I noticed them immediately and they were warm to the touch. So my horse time was driving to the Vet Clinic to pickup her medication. I ran into two horse gals from my past, Cheyenne and Liz are now working at the Vet Clinic. It was very nice to see them both. I returned to the stable and gave Mara B her medicine and think we will reverse this quickly. Hoping she’ll be better in a day or two.

Super Fun Horse Visit

Family fun day with Jane, Julia, Trey, Louisa and George visiting us! Peanut, Andri and Gus were fabulous mounts to enjoy.  A special thank you to our wonderful barn friends who made this all possible. We have a few new cowboys and cowgirls in the family now.

Mud, Puddles & Rest

Mara B and I took a rest day today! After the heavy rain we were left with muddy puddles and humid air. Mara had her grain, some grooming and a little excercise in the indoor arena. I cleaned her brushes while she munched on hay. Always enjoyable to just hang out together.

Neighbors Garden & Pete’s Steer

Mara B and I had a peaceful stroll through the quiet neighborhood. Many flower gardens are looking really good. Returning to the stable we found Ryan pulling the mechanical steer in the outdoor arena. Mara had some steer tracking time and she did really well! A fun change of pace for us.

Tassels & Beans

Good to be back out on a ride with Mara, Kim and Rio today! We had a perfect summer day to inspect the crops. Tassels on the corn now, and the beans have really grown since the last time we saw this field. Peak summer riding.

Horse Power in Dallas

No horses,  just a tremendous amount of ‘horse power’ from all the Dallas volunteers we met today. Five Little Free Libraries were dedicated in memory of the five fallen Dallas Officers. It was an honor to “ride along.”

Turn on the Fans

Hot, humid, muddy and buggy best describes my visit with Mara this afternoon. I brought her in for some cool, shade in the barn. Fans on stalls were running to provide a bit of relief from the sticky heat. I fed her, groomed her and sprayed her with fly spray, plenty of action for such a hot day.
