Mara B and I rode in the snowy back field this afternoon and Bo joined along. However with the significant snow depths Bo let Mara blaze the trail and mostly followed in her tracks, which is not his usual routine!
We went slowly, took some rests and savored the dazzling snow and silent surroundings. Mara even felt a touch warm when I dismounted. It was refreshing to be outside on the edge of the woods and moving through such deep snow!
The afternoon was so mild that I groomed Mara outside. Then we rode out with Leah and Holly for a good trek around the dairy loop.
First stop was to say hello to Julie’s horses.
We had Bo along so we didn’t spot any critters, just enjoyed the quiet winter fields.
Returning home we met up with Rachel out on a training ride.
We all agreed it felt like a spring ride not an early January ride. And that it was very pleasant to be out with our horses! Thanks Mara B.
Mara and I rode out this afternoon with both Brutus and Bo in tow. Very fun to follow them and to watch them go in and out of the woods ahead of us.
When I was a young rider my favorite barn dog was named Jumbo and he rode miles with us. Today’s ride reminded me of Jumbo and the fun of trail riding with good dogs along.
Here’s the field side of Mara’s paddock, her horse friends were relaxing this afternoon when we returned home.
The last day of November provided us with a delightful ride.
