Mara and I had a nice Monday morning ride today. It was peaceful, still and mild, we heard and saw geese in the distance. The earth and trees are bare and now ready for winter rest. And winter arrives here tonight the weather gal tells us, so it was a treat to savor today’s outing!
Fun full morning for us today. Starting in the round pen, Mara had real energy to expend. Then Hannah needed an assist with catching a horse and jumped on Mara to work with her as a wrangler. It was fun to watch and Mara was great at the job, however M&H did not prevail (this time). We concluded our morning together with a relaxing ride around some of the dairy loop. A good horse day.
Mara and walked to Sam’s this afternoon and the corn fields are now plowed fields. We enjoyed sunshine and clear skies. It seemed warmer outside than in the barn, but the heat is now on! Preparing to tack up I start in the bathroom these days to use the heat in there to warm up Mara’s bit. Just one of those seasonal changes brought on by the cold temps.
After losing a very special medal that was a saddle charm, I was blessed with a mini miracle of finding it a week later. The saddle now has new charms that are tied on with extra care. We enjoy having them along on our rides. Mara had grooming and arena excerise this afternoon and Jay joined us for the fun.
We had the first snow and Dr Toby’s fall visit this morning. Mara B was staying as dry as possible in the shelter when I arrived. I sat on the bench, let Mara eat, she had her fall shots and headed back to her paddock. Weather does play into our horse time, and today’s weather was simply not conducive to great horse time.
