Sharing photos from Saturday, Sunday and today! Jay’s day on Saturday was fun for all three of us. Mara loves his attention and I appreciated his photography skills. Jay captured our fun in the fields ride time.
Sunday was a cold rainy washout for us. I simply brought Mara B in for some food and a respite from the crummy weather. There is not much you can do with a really wet horse.
Today we got our ride in before the sprinkles arrived. We found some fall scenes to share. We also watched a large buck come dashing out of the woods and race across the back fields directly in front of us to the woods on the far side. A powerful sight of freedom.
Mara and I are still seeing the beauty of late autumn.
Mara was reshod this morning which took up much of our connection time today.
And Barbie’s colt has received his name! It’s Cha-Ching Cha-Ching his owner Julie told me yesterday.
So today I thought I’d mention to the horse lovers who are following Mara Moments and are without your own horse to please keep in mind the financial reality of owning your own horse. Board, Vet, farrier, equipment, emergencies plus other variables can be costly. Mara Moments does try to be real and share our true experiences, so today’s topic is an important one.
Owning your own horse is truly a wonderful adventure, but please know/remember that owning a horse requires both time and money.
To me it’s also priceless therapy that I’m grateful for.
Mara B and I enjoy young people around the Barn, green green fields and watching Barbie’s foal grow. These were a few of today’s ‘charming’ stable experiences.
Of course being outdoors on trails with Jennifer and Bella added to the charm of the summer day!
The horse’s too were as charming as ever!
Mara B and I had a fun and full morning together, first activity was watching the dragging/leveling/grooming work in the outdoor arena (the indoor arena was also dragged.) Some good seasonal stable maintenance getting done.
Summer allows some of the college gals to be around during the day, so Haley and Mackenzie joined in on today’s ride! It was fun to chat with them.
Plus we had darling young friends at the barn today, we met up with Annika when we all happened to stop by to visit Barbie and her Colt.
The youngest riders added a special sweet charm to our stable time!
Special Mara Moments supporter Becky (my sister in law) stopped by with Jane ( my older sister & also special!) to visit Mara B this morning. Becky first met Mara when we picked her up and brought her home close to four years ago. It was wonderful to have them both stop by again today.
Then off we rode on an excellent outing with Kim/Rio and Jennifer/Bella. First stop was to see Barbie and Baby, which is always a treat.
We found Bambi later on the trail and I was able to get this photo because she would not move, guessing there was a fawn there too.
A lovely June trail ride.
Mara B and I had an exceptional trail ride today. Off we headed with Char and SeaB and Jackie and Honey to cross the river and ride an enchanting and magical river trail.
On the way to the river we caught Julie out with Barbie and still unnamed Baby, we all chatted and commented on how much he’s growing.
We then continued along the edge of the field and rode ‘down’ to cross the river and find our loop.
I love this area, it’s heavily wooded, a narrow trail and magical. We delighted to see the ferns and wildflowers along the way. We do have to dismount to clean poop off the trail, (thank you Jackie) I had to dismount and get Mara to jump over a log that she refused three times. This is real trail riding.
And then Mara and I found the miserable when we got into a stretch of tall weeds that she clearly reacted to. Mara became hypersensitive and overreacted and just tried to get out of there. An ugly kind of ride, so I got off her and walked, tripped and swore for 10 minuets or so leading her to finally get “out of it.” The poor thing, she rode home great after we crossed the river to head back to the barn. I have already spoken to her Vet, this will need to be treated and managed for her. I am a highly sensitive person (look up HSP) and I know that Mara B is also highly sensitive, I understand her. My riding partners Jackie and Char were fabulous and supportive friends throughout, thank you.
Mara and I had a rain day today. However our new neighbor from down the road arrived this week and we’re introducing him to you today!
Barbie is his mom, baby is not yet named. We will enjoy watching him grow.
